Job Description
As a Structural Design Engineer within our Projects, Design & Engineering department, you will take ownership of product design from concept through production release. You will be responsible for creating manufacturable, serviceable, and optimized designs for hydraulic, pneumatic & thermal systems and components, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust engineering solutions to our OEM customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D solid models, technical drawings (per ISO/ASME standards), and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and existing products using SolidWorks.
- Apply GD&T principles rigorously to ensure dimensional accuracy, functional fit, and manufacturability across all design outputs.
- Perform structural analysis and design verification simulations (FEA) using Siemens CAE tools (Simcenter, NX CAE, or equivalent) to validate designs prior to prototyping.
- Design components and assemblies from scratch with a strong focus on manufacturability (DFM), serviceability (DFS), and weight/cost optimization.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) processes end-to-end: from initial concept and material standard selection through prototype validation, pre-series approval, and serial production handoff.
- Conduct field measurements, technical data acquisition, and reverse engineering activities at customer or operational sites as required.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Purchasing departments to resolve design-related issues.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including design reports, material specifications, change notices (ECN/ECR), and revision histories within the PDM/ERP system.
- Provide technical support to the Sales and Business Development teams for customer inquiries, RFQ responses, and technical presentations.
- Participate in R&D projects supported by governmental bodies (TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB, Ministry of Industry and Technology) and contribute to patent/IP development where applicable.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging materials, and manufacturing technologies to propose design improvements and innovation opportunities.
- Report to the Projects, Design & Engineering Team Lead with regular progress updates and align daily work plans with departmental objectives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3–5 years of hands-on product/component design experience in a manufacturing or OEM environment.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) including part modeling, assembly design, and technical drafting.
- Strong command of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) per ISO 1101 / ASME Y14.5.
- Working experience with Siemens CAE tools (Simcenter, NX CAE) or equivalent FEA platforms for structural analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to design from a blank page: creating production-ready, serviceable, and optimized components and systems.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, welding/brazing, sheet metal forming, assembly).
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems and ERP-integrated engineering workflows.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- No travel restrictions (domestic and occasional international travel required).
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in the automotive or defense sectors.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic and/or thermal system design.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949/VDA 6.3 quality standards and APQP/PPAP processes.
- Exposure to statistical analysis tools (Minitab or equivalent) and 6-Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, DOE).
- Experience contributing to government-funded R&D projects or patent applications.
